Famous musician, artist and performer Russell Chibato is known to be one of England’s main jazz musicians that has taken music to a whole new level.
Russell Richard Chibato lived a simple life with his mother (Paula Furls), father (Richard Chibato) and his younger brother (Jacob). “As a child Russell was always a music lover, he was always fantasizing about being a musician” Richard tells us “I used to make stages for him out of cardboard from work, he used to pretend to play instruments for me and Paula”. Russell got his first instrument (the trumpet) when he was 12, he was found to be a natural at blowing notes from it and by the next year he could already play many simple songs such as ‘rock around the clock’ and ‘Spiderman’, “Russell cherished every moment he had with his trumpet, giving most of his spare time towards it” Paula tells us “I realized that this would be nice to show the rest of the family, he could play so clearly, so I put some of the videos up on YouTube for them” Paula had no idea that YouTube was a place that is free to the public at the time, so once the videos got out, the channel started to get many views from people around the world, this is where Russell’s career began.
Russell’s hit that showed him a way to stardom was when he was 17, playing a piece called ‘the Sheppard’, a piece that showed off Russell’s skill on the trumpet, this was picked up on YouTube by the English manager Harry Johnson, Harry was looking for new talent that could Bring more people into jazz music and Russell was definitely one of them. Harry found Russell ‘s email and sent him a offer of becoming a star, Russell gladly accepted the offer and was taken down to Borough Studios in the United Kingdom to record a single with his best played song.
The song became an even bigger hit than expected, their primary goal was to get at least 2000 copies bought, they achieved that by more than 4000+.
Now Russell makes and plays his own songs and solos, such as ‘One man jazz band’ and ‘smooth flight ahead’, he tours around England and America with a different band each time he plays, giving a surprise to the audience every time, while his audience expands in real life, you can still watch him on YouTube and check out his songs and gigs.
